Private Grooming Lessons

 

There are no licensing or formal study requirements for dog groomers in Australia, however, skills and knowledge are very important to ensure you become a competent dog groomer.  From learning about different breeds to understanding particular grooming techniques and trends, we can accomodate your needs of topics to help you gain the knowledge you need.

 

Professional Dog Bathing (P.O.A)

No previous experience is necessary. 

The entry level and this course will prepare you to professionally bath, dry and prepping dogs, which is the foundation for dog styling.

Full Day 1on1 Course (P.O.A)

For professional groomers who wish to improve on the various teddy face styles.

​

5, 7 or 10 Days Course (P.O.A)

Our popular courses for groomers who have completed the basic grooming course and wish to advance onto scissor finish dog styling.

  • Scissoring techniques

  • Coat preparation

  • Using the right grooming tools to achieve beautiful scissor finish

  • Basics of teddy bear styles

  • Teddy head, mushroom head, teddy head of drop coat, teddy head on curly coated oodles, teddy head on wavy/drop coated oodles

Note :

For maximum learning experience, we put a lot of work into scheduling and finding the right model dogs for our students. 

A 50% deposit is required when the training dates are confirmed with the remaning payable before the start of training day.

I found out about Mays grooming course when I attended a two-day grooming competition organised by May Wong in May this year. Seeing the various groomers compete was exciting. I enquired from one gentleman where he gained his knowledge from and he referred me to May. I’ve been grooming my own dogs since 1991. My business started accidentally six years ago and has gone from strength to strength, but I felt I needed more upskilling. In order to improve on my skills, I attended Mays grooming course in August. I was taught how to hold a pair of scissors correctly. This may sound silly but there is a correct way of holding a pair of scissors. I’m happy I took that person’s advice to attend May Wong’s grooming course.
