Frequently Asked Questions

What is teddy bear or Asian Inspired style grooming?

Whether it is the wash, dry, or cutting part, we make sure the result is nothing short of perfect. Our main objective is to bring out the cuteness of a dog through the expertise and precision of our scissoring skills. Our specialty includes the teddy bear style for poodles and happy ball head style for bichons. If you would like to see our work, please check out our photos gallery or facebook page.

How frequently should I have my dog groomed ?

Long coated dogs should be groomed every 4 - 6 weeks to ensure their hair does not get matted and is not harboring insects or hiding skin conditions.

What if I only want to groom my dog every 3-4 months?

If you intend to groom your dog every 3 to 6 months, we are sorry that we are not the right groomer for you.
We have very limited spots available and only accept clients who require grooming services on a regular basis. We like to see our clients at least every 6 weeks frequency.

My dog is really matted, do you have any extra charge for clipping off severely matted dog ?

No, we do not groom extremely matted dogs. In fact, there can be significant risks involved, please check out the associated risks from this link : The Risks for some procedures and solutions.

How long does the grooming process usually take?

The grooming process usually takes 2-3 hours.  We do not rush your dog through grooming procedures.  We use the time to make sure your dog is thoroughly cleaned and we hand dry all dogs. After the dog is completely dry, we will begin the grooming process. Scissors are mostly used for the entire grooming process.  After we finish cutting and shaping your dog to your liking, we’ll finish it off with a spray of doggie cologne. At that point, we'll give you a call to come by.

Do you have any spots today ?

No, we don't as we are typically booked out two weeks in advance. Our clients pre book their next appointments prior to leaving the salon. If you are a dog owner who prefers a grooming appointment immediately, then we are quite likely not the salon for you to consider.

Can you recommend another groomer if I'm unable to book a time that suits me ?

Yes, certainly!  Please see below - Although we have not used their services, the quality of work and grooming looks fantastic on heir Facebook grooming page.

Sarah Lowe - Animal Mad Dog Grooming (Wheelers Hill)
Jaeha Lee - Murphy's Paw (Port Melbourne)
Michelle Fowler - Fancy Pantz (Cheltenham)

Can I stay with my dog during the grooming?

No. Dogs are calmer and better behaved for grooming when the owner is not present. When the owner is present, the dog is so focused on the owner that it disrupts the grooming process.  The dog will bark, try to lunge off the table, become very excited with the idea of you coming over to pet him.  This will make the task much harder for the groomer. Working with sharp tools makes it necessary to have 100% of the dog's attention on the groomer.  We are using scissors and other sharp tools around your dog's eyes and other tender parts of the body.  This can cause serious unnecessary accidents to occur.

Why does my dog shake in fear going to the groomers ?
This is a very common occurrence in grooming salons and vet clinics around the world. At our salon, we have surveillance cameras running 24/7 and should you have any concerns, you are welcome to request to see the CCTV footage.

What is the procedure if we found fleas on someone’s pet ?
This will happen to minimise the possibility of spreading to other dogs in the salon. Your dog will be segregated from any other dogs for the remainder of their visit in the salon. All towels, kennels and grooming tools that are used will be thorough cleaned and disinfected.
We will charge an additional fee of $15 as this procedure is lengthy and does create a significant delays to our schedule.

Does the grooming package includes photography session and will I receive my dog's photos?
No. We do not offer any photo shoot session. The photos appeared on our Facebook page and Instagram are just one of the personal hobbies of our groomer and do not form part of the grooming.

Will my pet be sedated ?
We never sedate dogs, nor do we accept dogs that have been sedated. If a dog is truly uncooperative or made uncomfortable by the grooming process, we may end the grooming session but we will never sedate your dog.

Do you groom larger size breed dog ?
No. We specialised in grooming small to medium size dogs only. We do not groom large dogs.
